Back in September I was in Cape Cod and rented a Jamis Road Bike. It was an ’08 Quest. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the ride quality. It had Shimano 105 across the board and an Easton fork. The only thing that disappointed was the fork, which surprised me. I was hoping that would have been one of the better features of the bike.
The Quest was lite for a steel frame and quick on its tires. It wasn’t the quickest machine, but by no means was it slow. It aslo smoothed out the rough gravel and pathy road surfaces. The Easton wheels were nice, but hard to tell the performance with such little time on them.
As for the Shimano 105 it was adequate. Coming from Ultegra it was easy to notice the glitches in shifting. However, if you had never had Ultegra or Dura Ace I am sure you would be satisfied.
All in all the bike was a great. If you can get your hands on one cheap it would be a great buy. At the end of the day steel makes for a great ride and enjoyable bike!
