It seems that bicycling programs are popping up all over the place. There is a new program in Washington D.C. called BikeSmart. Another trend is Colleges are starting to get on the band wagon. The programs vary at each college, but all have the same basic idea. Get students to rely on bicycles instead of cars for transportation. Now all I need is to get JMU, my Alma mater, to start one…

DC’s BikeSmart Program

I would love to tell you more about the program, but I can’t even find a website for it. Two weekends ago in DC the lady and I got off the metro and had to walk about 15 blocks to our destination. About a block into our walk we found a rack of 5 or 6 BikeSmart bikes. I was ready and willing to pay whatever to get on a bike and ride around, however, I was prompted to use my “DC BikeSmart Card” to check out a bike. Hmm…called the number on the rack, but no answer. We continued to walk to our destination. On the way we found a man riding around on a BikeSmart bike and he told us to check out the website. That would be great if he had told us what the website was.
Back at home we tried finding the website, but was unsuccessful. Anyone got a clue?
Cheers
