The Cycle Messenger World Championships are back in Berlin from 28 of May to 1 of June. It looks like there will be a huge turn out for this event. This is the 14th one! As usual non-messengers are allowed, but really do you want to be a *half-day poser?

If you are in a city with bike lanes; you can report cars or persons that are in the way! Don’t know what this is going to get you other than an outlet.

I have thought to myself many times, why doesn’t google offer a feature on there maps to show common bike trails. People have started to mark them on Google earth, but nothing on Google maps. In my monthly newsletter from bikewalk.org there was an article about it.
It seems that there is a petition that is going out to google about getting this done. Sign away!

Biking Programs at Colleges

It seems that bicycling programs are popping up all over the place. There is a new program in Washington D.C. called BikeSmart. Another trend is Colleges are starting to get on the band wagon. The programs vary at each college, but all have the same basic idea. Get students to rely on bicycles instead of cars for transportation. Now all I need is to get JMU, my Alma mater, to start one…

Stolen Bikes

My friend recently moved near a metro stop so he could start commuting to work without driving. What a good little boy trying to lessen his carbon foot print. At first he was walking to the metro, then he started riding. Last week he locked his bike and the metro and when he came back it was gone. A nice way to end the day don’t you think?
In a conversation I had with him today he said he is done with bikes…hmm…got me thinking if someone stole one of my bikes (aka children) would I give up biking? Well the obvious answer for me is no, however, what about the rest of the population not so into biking? Would you give up driving if your car was stolen? Surely, most Americans would not.
I hope he is just mad about his property getting stolen…
