Laws and Regulations

If you are in a city with bike lanes; you can report cars or persons that are in the way! Don’t know what this is going to get you other than an outlet.

I have thought to myself many times, why doesn’t google offer a feature on there maps to show common bike trails. People have started to mark them on Google earth, but nothing on Google maps. In my monthly newsletter from bikewalk.org there was an article about it.

It seems that there is a petition that is going out to google about getting this done. Sign away!

Police are ticketing cyclists going the wrong way on New Hampshire Ave in Dc. From what I understand it is only one block of the road that is one way. I guess you better go the long way.

I’m all for making our local trails safer, but can we address a few issues before we crush my daily (speedie) rides? I know you said yes…

  1. iPods: this goes for runners as well as walkers and cyclists. How can you hear what is going on around you with music in your ears? How can I let you know I am passing on the left when you can’t even hear me?
  2. Pedistrians: some take up the whole path. When you pass them or ring your bell they look as if you are an alien coming for ubduction. NOPE, just riding on the path you silly moron.
  3. How are they going to enforce this new speed limit? Can’t wait to see how many accidents happen from them trying to do that.

All in all I agree some people race down this path. I am quilty. However, there has to be a better solution. Oh, wait bike lanes!
