These new Speedplay minialistic pedals were spotted at this week’s races in Europe. The look to be the same as the regular Speedplays, except the sides have been lopped off.1239266901936-12o0dscdf8c72-850-65

No one (French officials and I) wants you at the Tour de France. It seems “our” golden boy broke some rules. Here is the full article.

Lance Armstrong could face racing ban in France

1239266315105-1xg539bwfxmwy-500-90-500-70Astana’s Michael Schar is riding a custom made aluminum Trek frame this week. Yes a-l-u-m-i-n-u-m. It seems that Michael’s height of 6′ 5″ is a little too big for the Madone frame. They have taken the stock geometery of a 62cm Madone and made the toptube a little longer. As well as cutting the head tube to that of the size of a 56cm frame. Even with the larger frame he is still using the stock 140mm stem and 180mm cranks.

Talk about Frankenbike.

It seems the French want a taste of Mr. Armstrong’s blood. Hmm, sounds good to me. Of course he is crying out saying he is innocent. Rules are rules Lance. You can’t go around breaking them. The fact of the matter is the tester showed up and you aren’t allowed to leave their site. However, you did. You went to go take a shower. What else did you have time to do?

Why is he coming back? You tell me!

Lance Stirring It Up

It’s no secret that my favorite rider is Alberto Contador. I had been watching the Tour de France off and on from the 2003. The past two years I was held up in my house every night watching for the full 3 hours in July. 2007 was the first year I really watched every second of the race and at the beginning I picked Contador as my rider, as I have never had one to root for.

To my surprise he won the race! That being said I was very dissappointed to see that Astana was not allowed to race in 2008 at the Tour. Now that Lance is coming back, I hope this doesn’t mess up Contador being the leader of the team. On second thought maybe I do…how great would it be to see him crush Lance in the ’09 Tour?

Contador Article

You heard right! Lance Armstrong, after 3 years of being retired, will be racing in the 2009 Tour de France. Not really sure how I feel about this. I was pretty sure after reading some books and seeing the races for myself that he was doping just like everyone else. I have my own theory that I won’t get into about why his doping was never brought to light.

What does the mean for my boy Contador? Will he be the team lead of Astana in 2009?

ESPN Lance Article

I think we all have our suspensions after what we have seen go down over the past few years at the Tour de France. However, not letting a new team ride because their name is crap. The team is under new management and non of the riders have ever been found guilty of doping.

If you want to play devils advocite, you can say the coach is the same that lead Armstrong to 7 victories and yes there are rumors of him doping. Even with that being said no charges or “real” allegations were made against Lance or Levi. Contador, the defending champion, won’t even be there. That makes two Tours in a row that the defending champ won’t be racing in.

This is not a good step for our sport. We need to call attention to this, even if nothing comes of it but making people aware of the situation.

LET OUR BOYS RIDE!!!!!
